In accordance with the planned schedule, the works to adapt and improve the BSM Rius i Taulet car park, which began on 30 January 2023, were completed last week. The car park, located at the foot of the Montjuic Fountains, on Av. Reina Maria Cristina in Barcelona, with a surface area of 15,709m2, was inaugurated in September 1982, and is therefore the first car park in the current BSM Car Park Network. It has 3 floors with 5 pedestrian accesses, 2 entrances and 2 exits for vehicles, and 2 lifts.

The purpose of this comprehensive improvement was to carry out an adaptation and refurbishment to meet the mobility needs of both people who access by car, motorbike or bicycle, as well as those who do so on foot.

The scope of the works has been the general improvement of the facilities, modifying the distribution of parking spaces and reforming the 5 pedestrian accesses to improve conditions and make them safer for all the people this car park serves: attendees of the Fira de Barcelona and cultural and sporting events in the area around Montjuic mountain, neighbours and shopkeepers in the area.

BSM Rius i Taulet: a hub at the service of its surroundings

These improvements to the BSM Rius i Taulet car park make it a hub of mobility services available to the area it serves, including Endolla Barcelona electric recharging points, car sharing services, bicycle docking points and the Click & Collect service for collecting parcels accessible to the public.

Other services offered by the car park include ticketless payment via the SMOU application and 3G and 4G coverage to improve the user experience with respect to the quality of calls and the use of the internet and services associated with mobile applications.

The BSM Car Park network is making progress in its purpose of contributing to the improvement of people's quality of life by offering parking spaces and complementary mobility services that help to improve the organization of mobility and optimize public space.
