InPost, the logistics company specializing in non-home deliveries, has signed an agreement with Barcelona de Serveis Municipals (BSM) to install its lockers in the BSM Car Park Network, which consists of 43 off-street car parks spread throughout Barcelona. The goal is to facilitate the collection and return of online purchases made by citizens using these municipal management spaces.
The agreement is part of the recently approved "Special Urban Plan for New Activities in the Parking Lots of the City of Barcelona," which aims to improve the delivery of goods and activities related to the collection of small packages, using public-use rotational parking lots.
Specifically, BSM Car Parks are undergoing a transformation to provide a more comfortable, easy, and secure customer experience, offering services that go beyond vehicle parking and meet the new habits and needs of citizens, turning them into service hubs. These hubs will also include battery exchange stations, charging points, and secure spaces for bicycles, among other services.
In this context, the installation of InPost lockers in the BSM Car Parks in Barcelona will help reduce surface traffic and allow users to take advantage of their parking trips to easily collect their online purchases or return products. These improvements are part of the Urban Mobility Plan 2024, through which Barcelona seeks to achieve more sustainable, safe, and healthy mobility.
